A price file in Troika and WealthWorks+ is a dated 'file' of investment prices and yields for all investments held in the master investment library. A price file contains the following information for each investment held in the system:
- Price (in the junior currency e.g. pence, cents etc.)
- Estimated Yield
- Date of the price
- Currency of the price
- Marker (Actual or Estimate)
- Income
- Income Currency
Each record or a price or yield is attached to an investment by its unique investment ID, SEDOL, ISIN or other identifier.
The price files are held centrally and are not specific to a client or entity. A price file type can be created on the same day for the following prices type:
- Middlemarket
- Bid
- Offer
- Closing
- Quarterup
Once created, a price file can be updated manually by keying in each price for each investment, imported from a csv, xls or txt file, or updated by a 'price feed' service which we can provide a link to, such as 'SIX' or 'Interactive Data'.
A price file is used to value investments in Troika by applying a selected 'price file' to investments held to an entity or group of entities to create a valuation as at a specific date. This might be an on screen valuation or a printed report.
A selected price file is also used in WealthWorks+ to value investments on reports, dashboards and screens to give current valuations of investments held, to users, using the latest prices selected. An option is available in Options > System Administration > Investments to use a specific price file, the latest available price file or use accounting book costs instead of investment prices.
For further information on creating new price files, see Default price files and price processing modes.
