Additional Security Verification (Two Factor Authentication)
Users can now be required to use Two-Factor Authentication (2FA) as a method of verifying a user securely in addition to their account credentials and password. This provides an additional layer of security for your business access to WealthWorks+.
If enabled, users will require an Authenticator application installed on a smartphone or device to generate a code that gives access to the system.
Authenticator Applications supported:
Authenticator App in Google Play Store | Authenticator App in Apple Store |
---|---|
Google Authenticator | Google Authenticator |
Microsoft Authenticator | Microsoft Authenticator |
Sophos Authenticator | Sophos Authenticator |
LastPass Authenticator | LastPass Authenticator |
Tutorial Transcript
To increase access security you can now enable two-factor authentication (2FA). Go to Options, then System Administration. Make sure you are in the Users tab and find the relevant user. At present, you will need to enable 2FA for each individual user who requires it. Click on the Actions button and then Edit. Select the Security tab and tick the Enable Additional Security Verification check box, and then Save. The next time that user logs in they will be shown a QR code which they will need to scan with their device using an authenticator app, such as Microsoft or Google. Once scanned, the user's account will link to the app and be displayed as WealthWorks+, followed by the dataset in brackets, and then their user initials (if space allows). If they have access to more than one dataset with 2FA enabled they will need to link each dataset to their authenticator app separately. They then need to enter the code from the app into WealthWorks+ to log in. The user will need to enter a new code every time they want to log in. If the user has changed or lost their device and needs to link their account with a new device, tick the Reset box and then Save. Then, the next time they login in, they will be shown the QR code again and they can link the account with a new device.
(01:31) To remove 2FA from a user's log in, simply untick the Enable Additional Security Verification check box and click Save. Next time that user logs in they will be able to access WealthWorks+ without having to use an authenticator app.
This tutorial is confirmed to be applicable from WealthWorks+ release 4.8.
